Hard to credit, isn’t it? If you’re like most of us, you throw out the junk mail… and yet maybe, like most of us, you don’t… Perhaps you flip the envelope over and read the slug line. Maybe, once in a while, you actually open the envelope and glance inside. If you’re thinking that doesn’t count, think again. You’ve given the marketer a couple seconds to hook your eye. Admit it, you’ve read an entire letter a time or two, or at least scanned the bolded type. Most people don’t like to con- fess, but a majority of homeowners have, in fact, bought something through direct mail.

Like any direct mail, your documents must be extremely well written and formatted to direct the eye to the prime selling points. Your resume must offer what the buyer (in this case, an employer) needs or strongly desires. And finally, direct mail must have mass distribution. A strong return on direct mail is 3% - a phenomenal return for the low cost of print and mailing fees. Make it work for you.
