Interview Synopsis
Prior to exiting any interview, there must be a recap. Each conclusion will include a general synopsis of what transpired during the interview and a clear understanding on the next course of action. Be assertive and confident in your approach without being aggressive and cocky in your attitude. If a future time for an additional contact is agreed upon, keep proper records, ensuring all schedules are met. Non-proactive candidates often leave without a definitive course of action and no second inter- view.

Be prepared to take the initiative by asking questions similar to:
•
What is the next step?
•
Where do we go from here?
•
Will you make the final decision?
•
When is the decision going to be made?
•
What other information do you need from me?
•
When are you looking to have someone fill this position?
If there were any agreements made during the interview, you should recap them as well.
After leaving the interview, make a note in your own files, recapping once again the agreements reached, and add to that note your feelings about the interview and any other information you deem important. When this is done, you will be ready to proceed to the next step—the interview follow-up.
