What did you like about it?

I have received a job in ZENITH Bank PLC, London. Is it valid?

We Answered:

Sorry, but this looks like a scam to me.

I've never heard of this bank. (Although I work in law, not finance, so that may not mean much.)

I looked for this bank in Hoovers (an online information source about companies) and there were no results.

All of the telephone numbers in the email are mobile numbers. You would expect a real bank to have a normal telephone number.

The address doesn't look like a London address. I live here and have never heard of a "Green Hemisphere". I've heard of Hills Place, but can't find Hills Drive on any map.

Companies House, the official registry of private and public limited companies, has no record of a "UK Gateway Travel Agency Ltd".

Finally, if you Google for "uk gateway travel agency", you get a number of similar questions to yours. One person reported that he was asked to pay one lakh twenty thousand rupees for his visa.

Bank interview?

We Answered:

Hey Kelsey,

I've recently got a job at an investment bank in London. So I'll just tell you a couple of pointers that I thought worked.

> Get some background knowledge on the bank, where are they based, who are the primary customers that sort of thing - the basic facts. This is probably available on their website. Whilst there see if there is a note about the company's "mission statement" or similar and if it details the characteristics of what sort of person they want to hire.
> Also worth checking on news/business news websites to see if there have been any recent news stories about them, new projects they are working on.
- The purpose of these two points is to show that you actually care about working for them, it's not just another job and that you've taken time and care to see what their business is about.

Dress-wise, I went for a standard blue single-breasted two-piece suit, relatively plain shirt and a subtle patterned tie (pictures and cartoons are perhaps not so great for a first impression). Although the company may sometimes operate a dress down policy it's good to be a bit more formal for the interview, again says that you're serious.

Finally it's worth having a think about some possibly questions they might ask "what do you think you weaknesses are?" is always a tough one but preparation is key.

Well there's a lot of point there - do hope it helps. If you want- feel free to e-mail. any more tips

Good luck!
