Outlook on employment at local banks...?We Answered:
Probably not completely. If that were to happen to any business, it'd be the US Postal Service. They are cutting back new hirees, etc. but they aren't going out of business. You have experience in banking so I assume you'll be safe to be able to find new employment opportunities if your bank were to get rid of you.Sidney Said:
Which career to pick in finance: Asset Management, Investment Banking, or Proprietary Trading? We Answered:
Sounds like you might want to consider a job as an investment advisor.Investment advisors work directly with people to help them achieve their financial goals. It's a combination of the jobs you mentioned above however it includes working with people directly, anticipating their concerns, and being self-motivated.
You can work as many or as little hours as you want. Investment advisors are paid based on assets under management, so if you work hard and build a large client base you can make an extremely large amount of money. But you don't have to.
Many times people can get started without a college degree. There are no requisites other than the state licensing exams. Look up series 7, series 65, and series 63 online. These are the financial licenses (or a combination) that you would want to have.
However most people find it easier to have a background in accounting/finance before working in the field. It also will give you some credibility as you are trying to sell your service to potential clients. Familiarize yourself with investments by opening your own online brokerage account and exploring the options you have. This will help you a lot to develop the skills and understanding necessary to be an advisor, manager, investment banker, or trader.

I plan to do the CFA program from ICFAI. Can anyone tell me the career path after completing this course? We Answered:
My suggestion is to focus on the financial sector. I hate to break the news to you but when it comes to IT, all of the major U.S. Corporations are outsourcing these jobs to those in China and India for 20% of what they pay in salary here in the U.S. If you want to email me at: wfg_ny_leader@yahoo.com, I will be happy to email you a list of companies (14 pages long) that have outsourced jobs overseas.- Dominick

Best Investment methods today for the future? We Answered:
Mutual fund is a pool of money from many investors that are managed by fund managers. this is the easiest way for regular investors to get exposed to stock market without having to actively monitor the stock performances. You can invest in mutual funds if you are not ready to get involve in stock market or have not enough money yet to buy stocks for yourself; but expect higher return than CD.
Since you are still young and be making pretty good starting salary, invest in stock market or real estate yourself. Stock market able to offer huge growth potential. On the other hand, real estate can offer you good sleeping income. Combining both, you are pretty much on track to financial freedom by the time you retired.
