Bank Teller Employment

Christian Said:

I do not have a background working in a bank, so how do I become a bank teller for a start?

We Answered:

Cash handling experience and customer service. Those are the two big ones.

Sandra Said:

Why can't H1Bs or H4s with an employment authorization card work as bank tellers?

We Answered:

Why would we need to import bank tellers? Why would a company spend several thousand dollars for a position that could be filled by any US citizen. I do not believe it's a matter of you not having a four yr degree, I just don't think a bank teller qualifies as a job under the those particular visa's.

Besides, if you already have work authorization...why would you need a H1B visa?

Janice Said:

What can I do about a bank teller that gave out my account information?

We Answered:

Yes I would definitely consider taking legal action! That teller has repeatedly exposed you to identity theft. Hire a lawyer. Also, in my city, we have a "news investigation team" who will look into matters like this and basically embarrass people on television until they agree to stop doing what they're doing.

Brenda Said:

Do anyone know the average salary for a Bank Teller???

We Answered:

Many bank tellers work part time, and do not complete 40 hours per week. As such, they are paid on a per hour basis (not salary).

The amount per hour paid depends on the institution, and the local employment situation. With this in mind, the same bank brand (like BofA) might offer one wage rate in Redding (central CA), while offering a slightly different wage rate in Los Angeles.

Melanie Said:

What is on a Pre-Assesment test for a bank teller?

We Answered:

hey, its nothing you should have to study for. I took one recently for my job at TCF bank..its simple..most of it was personality evaluation where you rate yourself on several different levels..and then there was a shorter section with math questions..it wasn't timed or anything..no calculator..but it's math you can do on scratch paper if you need. Nothing beyond regular Algebra from high school I would say...good luck! :)
