Trading is more commission based. You will have a more stable salary in structured finance. Trading you can progress to opening up your own trading desk or buying a seat on the exchange. With structured finaince you can progress pretty high up also. Lot of money to be made. I would be more comfortable with the structured finance personally though.

30-35K salaried plus bonuses and incentives which can bump you up to 50K depending on your numbers.... 2 weeks paid vacation, 1 week sick leave (increase to 4 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks after 10... capping out at 8 weeks after 20 years), health, dental, and life insurance available...

Position involves daily direct contact with customers, sales oriented position... lots of cold calling and schmoozing.

Former TCF bank employee...

Banking is a tight industry- you'd think they pay a lot because they have all the money... but they don't.. high ball them the best you can on the salary... you'll get an annual review but the maximum raise is 3% and they hardly every give that out- so expect closer to 1.5-2%. Expect health insurance to cost at least 10% of your salary if not more...

starting salary would be an 'average' pay that a person new to that position would earn.

A mid career median salary means that someone in the middle of that career (probably 15 years experience) can expect that median salary. Median means that half the people at that position/experience will be above that amount, and half will be below that.
