International Exams In Banking,Mutual funds and Financial sectors?

We Answered:

Countries such as Canada, U.S. and U.K. all have their own exams, for their own economies/cultures. If you want to work in one of these countries, choose their exam offerings. If you are not sure, choose one that is easiest to access where you are. Consider these organisations for securities industry exams:

Canadian Securities Institute
Securities & Investment Institute (London)
FINRA (U.S.)

Good luck!

How do I get into banking/stock brokering?

We Answered:

Try frequenting places where people already inside the industry meet.

Pubs, bars, health clubs around the City and Canary Wharf are good choices.

It is really who you know, and those friendships go normally back to university. The start of the chain is with relatives of people well placed in the industry already.

A boys club which is very difficult to break in.

As for sending your CV to the companies, forget it. Yo may want to try the agencies that place people there, but most of those people are head hunted once they have a successful track record.

How to move from UK to the States?

We Answered:

I live in sunny California. Santa Monica, to be exact. But the State is still hard hit with more than a $20 billion deficit. Jobs are either scarce or competitive. Unless we get the liberal loonies out, California will continue going downhill.

Other than that, life is great in California if you have the money. This state just so happens to have one of the highest costs of living in the US as well as other expenses. So make sure you have a stable career in California first before doing any moving.

EDIT: Forgot to add. You do not need to open a business to move there. I believe you can apply for dual citizenship.

Rent for 2 bedroom, 1 bath is on average, $1300-2000 (800-1230 GBP) in beach cities.
Single (1) occupancy rooms can range from $500-1000 (307-615 GBP).

It's much cheaper if you're moving more inland but you won't see the beach. But I do not know your expenses and income so I would not know your spending range. In regards to housing, purchasing a house is pretty cheap nowadays because of the real estate bust. Just keep in mind that any real estate will be more expensive closer to the beach and less expensive as you move further inland.

IT career in Banking in the UK?

We Answered:

There are people at the top in banking and finance that pay quite well. But really, 40K per year as a starting job are for people with great people skills and masters in finance.

In fact, those job pay so well often they start you on an unpaid internship, which is obviously less than 40K per year.

Realistically, few people earn 40K (I am assuming pounds here) on graduation. Which means, even if the jobs exist, only the best will get them.

Instead of wishing for that sort of job, you should be out getting experience in computing and banking and finance. See if you can get part-time work as a bank teller. See if you can do some part-time programming work somewhere.

All go to a top university and get top marks and be recruited straight out of university for Google or Microsoft.

Alternatively, have your career mapped out. Once you find a job in the sector and field that interests you, you should be spending your weekends building your certifications and filling up your resume.

You could be on 40K fairly quickly if you try.

Lee Said:

I am confused with my career. Plz suggest which university in UK allows low GPA but good in quality.?

We Answered:

from my knowledge GPA is equivalent to GCSE in the uk and you can't get into uni with gcse's you need A-levels which is a mandatory college qualification. if im wrong which i highly doubt and GPA is equivalent to A-levels then you should get into a fair amount of universities.
i suggest you contact careers office i don't know the number but you should check the ucas website.

also around 99% of the unis offer quality teaching with friendly environment and be aware that thousands of people all over the world come to the uk for knowledge we are the knowledge CENTRE of the world.

check the times or the guradian yuniversity rankings for the best universities. also tution fees for ofshore students is considerably higher than home EU applicants

EDIT: it depends how good your bachelors isyou need a second class(2:1) bachelors to get into a masters and to get to the best uni you need first class (1:1) and yes you will benefit from GMAT although some unis may not accpt it you'll have to research yourself on uk uni's

Discuss It!
