If your in the UK, put your CV on www.monster.com
Employers search the website for the candidates they want, it really works!
Good Luck, you've got fantastic qualifications, so I'm sure you'll find something soon xxx

Tim Said:

I am presently unemployed and in search of a job. I was in banking for 15 years and want something different.?

We Answered:

Me too. I am getting the same kinds of answers if I apply for a job which is less demanding but still in my field and jobs at my level have almost vanished. I am getting no response on my new career choice applications either as they are competing against people with the exact experience in the same industry.

If you can provide a good reason for yourself to take the job then its easier to convince the employer that you want to stay. Even if its only 'I'm going to do this for two years until I get my phd'. Its tough to find a job in something new at the moment as every job as 50 people with the exact background waiting to take it. There is no incentive for employers to hire a 'newby' even with transferable skills. If you can afford it, take any job you can for six months or go back to school, masters, phd etc so that as the market turns you have a leg up. Going back to college also allows you to align your resume better with your new career of choice. If you do get another offer and you feel guilty get him a bottle of 40 year old whisky and say bye.

Quitting a Banking Job after One week?

We Answered:

Go ahead and contact the alumni member. If you desperately need the money from the bank job, don't quit until you've interviewed with the other company. Then if you like the other opportunity (you've done your research about the company) and the other company offers you a job, you can go ahead and give notice at the bank (respectfully). Good luck!
