If you know the law firm handling this case is in New Jersey, you must have been notified by mail (I assume) that you might be/are being sued. This letter should contain a lot of the information you're looking for -

The name and address, or at least phone number, of the law firm
The company they are representing
The exact amount owed

The police are not going to show up at your doorstep, but it sounds like you may have a court date in your future. As scary as it all is, you NEED to call the law firm to get the details. You have no wages to garnish and no bank account to freeze. You need to explain this to them, ignoring it will only make it worse. You also need to ask the original lender for a copy of their policies/procedures and rules and regulations, your answer may lie there.

Red Bank is on of the few towns I've ever been to where the wrong side of the tracks is an appropriate phrase. Most of the town is very suburban (if that's your thing). Cross the train tracks and you'll come to the high crime part of town (especially along Shrewsbury Avenue)

Many people commute to New York, but it is around 90 minutes on the train. But there is a lot to do in the area, where you don't have to go to New York often. Plus you're only 15 minutes from the beach.
