Well I can tell you when working in a bank advancement can be extremely quick. I just started as a teller then became a teller supervisor. Then only after about 8 months was offered teller manager. Now offered personal banker after a year.

From experience of other personal bankers our branch manager got his position after 3 years.

That ad is almost 3 months old. If you haven't gotten called by now, don't expect to be called.

We Answered:

Selling alcohol to a minor might be a big deal to the government, but in all honestly, most businesses won't care. The hiring personnel don't know the circumstance of the sell and maybe it was a simple, one time mistake. If you had a more serious record such as larceny or something like that, no bank would hire you.

In my opinion, I think you would be just fine to apply for a bank job.

I have several friends who are in the banking industry and each of them started as a teller.

My first friend is now a branch manager and makes in the $45-$50k range.

Another friend is now in charge of commercial lending and makes over $100k.

A third friend is now a senior Vice President and I have no idea of his salary range.

Starting as a teller is a great foot in the door and allows you to explore any path you want within the bank.

Sure there is. You can hint at desired places and simply not go anywhere you're not comfortable going. It's a job, you're not joining the armed forces.
