I think you should change all of your documents right now rather than waiting. The purpose of the name change was for you to be able to use the name you wanted.

When applying for jobs, just state that you were previously known as whatever your name was, and this is your new name so that when your references are checked, with your old name, they will be able to provide the information.

If you do it now, it will be much easier in the long run and enable you to begin your career with a clean slate and it will be easier in the long run.

I'm sure you must have gotten (you should have) gotten a certified copy of your name change which you can show to whomever requests it. Certainly, Social Security, Motor Vehicle and Banks will want to see documented ;proof of your name change.

Never put off what you can do today until tomorrow.

If you can afford the book...buy and read it. It probably contains a lot of principles the manager likes and expects you to live by while working with him. It would also show that you value his opinion as a mentor.

Seriously, start researching the roles. An investment banker typically acts like a real estate broker, but instead of selling houses, finds buyers for small businesses.

Being an old fashioned stock analyst is sort of a dead breed too.

Definitely would be hesitant to be a stockbroker, with the proliferation of discount brokers.

Current money is all on hedge funds. Become a quant genius who truly understands all asset classes, get really really lucky, and you might reach your dreams. A key is to focus on being hte best.

Strive for straight As, not for the mark, but for the actual skills you will gain. Load up on more classes than you need in college. Enroll in the CFA program. You will increase your odds.

And by all means, learn the odds. Statistics is a key subject to master.
