First of all..don't panic. You are only in your second semester, plus college is not the "be all end all" in terms of your career. Most people change career paths at some point in their life. Second, I would encourage you to really rethink your decision not to pursue writing. If you are a good writer and you enjoy it then by all means you should go for it! You will still have a degree which is what most employers look for (says that you have the ability to complete something). I remember when I was in college and wanted to pursue an arts related major. Several family members discouraged me with the "its not practical speech". I wish I hadn't listened to them. There are lots of careers for individuals with writing skills. My father is a very talented writer and has his own small newspaper. He may not be famous but he really loves what he's doing and he's making a comfortable salary doing it. You sound like someone who "marches to the beat of their own drum" so I would guess that writing just may be the niche for you! Follow your heart and never sell out!
