never heard of any regular bank jobs that worked weekends or 16 hrs a day - in fact banks are closed for more holidays than any other kind of business

The background check is to make sure you never got prosecuted for a crime, a teller views everyones bank details so they dont want to hire just anyone. The credit check is often only used as a precaution measure in case something does happen or has already happen, they will flag you encase they find something suspicious.
