Yes, but different universities offer different economics degrees. If you got your degree through the university's business school, then your "core" course load would include courses in other fields that would be beneficial, such as finance, management, accounting, etc. If you got your degree from a liberal arts school, your core courses would not include these beneficial classes.

As someone who doesn't have a finance background, you stand a better chance than the others. Accounting is like the next best thing. If you are able to, take finance classes. I actually know someone who works for Morgan Stanley who went to Baruch. He wasn't doing accounting though.
