Jobs In Banks

Juan Said:

why IT support jobs in banks are paid so high?

We Answered:

Simple answer, dollars and cents...(excuse the pun) Anyways it's due to the nature of the work. Banks need to pay a higher wage due to the nature of the work involved.

Essentially the banks feel they need to pay more to 1. Justify the additional security checks required to deal with their information, and 2. Feel the need to pay more in order to offset any ill feelings that may lead to exploitation of their information.

Why are the banks who received the bailout money giving the best jobs to the H1-B workers?

We Answered:

A number of years ago when I was completing my MBA, I had the opportunity to interview for a Private Equity firm. They called me without a formal application. My interview was with one of the founders in his Penthouse residence that overlooked one of this nation's famous parks.
After he pointed out that he had received my contact info from an american colleague and a professor, he proceeded to ask me if the american students were a minority in the business school. I was puzzled and I tried to find out why he would even ask that question. He replied that all the names he had received from the Career Center were foreign students who had poor control over the language. He was perplexed by the fact that he did not even run into a reasonable mix of american vs foreign thru the normal channels. Yes, I ended up getting the job. In my background I had managerial experience as well as having won several of the competitions that one would encounter in a business school.
When I confronted the Career Center with this information, the response was that they were not obligated to justify their operations to students. I took the hint and I went to the Dean. Years later, I remind the school of this oversight whenever they ask for money or when I receive a survey to rate my experience in the business school.
