It would be incredibly stupid.

1. You live in an international world, where your records (especially banking ones) are now being compared between international companies. As such if you skip out on a large debt in your name (with identifying characteristics like DOB, passport #, etc) you will eventually have to pay it back. I have known people to skip out on debts in foreign countries, only to have to pay it off 10 to 20 years down the line, when they wanted to finance a house, or buy into a company.
