Retail Banking Jobs
Clifton Said:
Please help me with a great answer... which should i work for Retail or Bank?We Answered:
The answer depends a whole lot on you, your likes, dislikes, skills, and capabilities, especially since a bank and a retail store (particularly Lowes) are 2 very different envirnoments.A teller positon is a good step up from a retail job. You will continue to handle transactions, but you get to sit down and do them. Unlike retail, where you HAVE to stand, at least 99.9% of the time. There is a bit more pressure involved in banking as people won't always want to hang around and chat with you, as they may have in retail. Customers will count on you getting them in and out very quickly. The amount of accuracy you are able to work with will be far more important in banking also and thus, you will have to cover yourself with every transaction.
The attire will also be different. You will more than likely have to dress more professionally and adjust to a different culture (more serious and not as laid back) at the Credit Union.
How are you in high pressure situations? Can you handle a fast-paced environment? Do you want to sit all day in one spot or do you prefer to move around? Can you handle irate customers (banking takes uneasy customer returns to the 5th power sometimes)? Are you careful to follow rules and procedures? Do you pay close enough attention to detail to avoid fraud (ID, counterfit, etc.)
Lastly, where do you want to go from here? The career paths for these two positions are also very different. If you are interested in a career in financing, being a bank teller opens many doors for you (Branch Management, Securities, Banking & Loan Officers, etc.) whereas retail associates either become managers (Assistant Manager, Store Manager, District Manager) or merchandising or shipping people.

I am working as AGM in a reputed PSB with exp. in retail banking/ marketing. What are the best jobs availableWe Answered:
Perhaps you are in right position in the PSB and may contribute in so many ways to your Bank for the development of the Bank and to satisfy your 'self actualisation'.As you did not mention your age, commenting on prospect for a change might be a bit difficult.
Higher position with a MNC or a Private Sector Bank with higher salary might be a good option for you if you are in need of sheer change.
One should not discourage though, these banks often ask the candidates from the PSB "not to apply". Funny though ... !!
