You are entitled to a minimum of 28 days holiday per full year - these are your legal entitlement. Normally some of these days will be bank holidays and your employer will close the business for a day. There is no legal requirement for your employer to close the business for the day, and there is no legal requirement for your employer to pay you any extra for working that day. However, you are still entitled to 28 days holiday. If you work all bank holidays then you are entitled to take 28 other days as holiday. You do not get 28 days plus a day in lieu of bank holidays - the entitlement is for 28 days overall.

Wells Fargo will make it easier to negotiate your checks since they're drawn from there. Plus the college checking account is free. Based on your age any bank will do. I don't imagine your checks are too big so holds (freezing your money so the check will clear the bank) shouldn't be an issue.

The most important thing is that you learn how to manage your money. Most 18 year olds that open accounts (trust me I know, I'm the one opening the accounts) ruin them. They over spend, don't save money, and over draw their account resulting in fees. They don't ask questions and usually end up in trouble.

Don't let your mom guide you into banking how she does everyone is different. You will need to save money, banking on the internet is highly recommended and it's obvious you utilize the internet. I also advise you get a college credit card (when you turn 18). You need a minimum of 3 years of credit history before you can buy anything big; like a car or house. Just don't go crazy spending money you don't have.

Well, if they have told her to work on other days and she has worked, then she has entered into a contract with the employer to work those extra days - its doesnt have to be in writing - if turns up and works and is paid, then a contract exists. Also, they are not obliged to pay extra for Bank Holidays - if she has accepted ther work on this basis without querying it, then she is the one with the loss.
Everyone is entitled to 20 days holiday a year which includes bank holidays. This is pro rata for part time. She would only get holiday pay if she didnt take her holiday and it would be paid in lieu of time off.
I think she needs to speak to her employer formally to clarify exactly what hours she wants to work, tell them she wants extra pay for Sundays, etc (if not then she refuses to wrok those days) and what holiday she is entitled to.

In my workplace, if our normal day of working, falls on a bank holiday, we have to work it but have the option of getting treble time or double time and a day's holiday, to be taken at a later time. If there are any spaces on the holiday board, we are able to apply for them and it's on a first come-first served basis. The company still need a guaruanteed workforce for each day that they are open. Perhaps you could point out that you have never had the chance of a bank holiday monday off and would appreciate having a shot.

Yeah, double pay would be great, but it's the same rate, mate, so don't be late, get through the gate and work yourself into a state of frenzy.
