Brandon Said:

Graphic Designers: I need your opinion/Answer my questions?

We Answered:

If you want to create businesses or join a business, you'll still need qualifications. You might say you can already do those things taught as unis or colleges, but a qualification is still the best proof. To be honest in today's competitive world there's plenty of postgrad students with good qualifications to compete in the jobs you want.

You might want to consider the following career paths:
2D ad design (billboards, in magazines, logos for businesses and overall graphic packages)
newspaper/magazine layouts
There's more, I forgot, it's best to consult a careers advisor.

One thing you need to know is some colleges or unis offer work placement, so you'll be able to experience work conditions, it's even hard for a company to give you a work placement if you don't have any qualifications.

Your type of design is different from art, where people often use hands to draw. Today all of the magazine layouts are done digitally, you don't even need to be good at sketching, knobbly sketches portraying your ideas would do.

Hope it helps!

Mike Said:

Should I enroll in Dual enrollment during my senior at HS to skip a yr in college?

We Answered:

I was a little confused by your post but I do want to warn you, just because you have said number of credits, doesnt usually mean you can literally skip a year of college. There are a couple reasons for this. First of all, you need to look at the core requirements for the college you plan to attend and see which of those classes you have taken. Some of the classes you took may not even be in the curriculum at your school and will therefore not count towards your graduation from college. Graduating from college requires more than just hours, it requires specific classes. So if the classes you took in high school all dont match up to count for classes you would need to take that are required in college, you wont be able to "skip" an entire year of college.
