First of all your too small. Not height wise i mean weight wise. Center has to be the center of the line. Strong, Physical, nasty, mean etc. Before you start worrying about your height get toned up with more muscle mass. Because when your in the trenches your all youve got.

A tech college will teach you a specific trade. A community college will sometimes also teach you a trade but it is most geared towards helping students to get a four year degree.
about the carrer change checkout some jobs that you like and go do a short internship or something. to see if you like it or not.
