How can a college student find a job in this economy?

We Answered:

You have to look for a job at the right time. I started looking for a summer job in June which was way too late (all of the college kids coming back in may took all of the seasonal jobs)
If you're looking into working while you go to school apply for the job RIGHT when you get to school because otherwise all of the jobs will be filled.

If you haven't applied for financial aid, I would recommend it so that you are eligible for Work-study opportunities which usually pay well and are flexible for college students.

I have no idea what your spending habits are, but if you spend less, you obviously have more money for longer.
Simple: make your own coffee at home, don't buy breakfast for your meal plan (breakfast is one of the cheapest meals to make yourself) socialize in ways that don't involve spending money, don't go to the first run movie theatre--- go to the 1 dollar movie, clip coupons, don't buy things you don't need (really ask yourself whether you need it before you spend the money), don't eat out too much, when you get people gifts, put more meaning into and spend less (people understand that you're a college student and don't have any money), make cards don't buy cards, buy in bulk (careful, Costco/Sams Club isn't ALWAYS cheaper), comparison buy,

phew! goodluck

How do I become a high school career center teacher?

We Answered:

High school career center directors have a background in teaching at the high school level. It appears that it can be in any curriculum are that the teacher is certified to teach. Then, further education is required and that is an MA in educational administration where the person can receive a certificate as an high school administrator. The MA in educational adminsitration will have 33-36 credit hours of courses in school finance, history of education, secondary school curriculum, secondary school supervision, school law, school policies, and several other courses, It will also have an internship that will be conducted at the same high school where the teacher is assigned. It would be ideal in your situation if you did that internship in the career center of you own high school

Should I e-mail a college representative after meeting with them?

We Answered:

If you keep it short, polite, and not overly fawning this is a very good idea. If you have a good question or two (not something you can find on the website), pose them. It might be worth running your email past your college counselor to make sure your tone is appropriate.

My mom doesn't want me to go to a career center. Help me!?

We Answered:

The best way is to get her to take a tour and speak with the guidance counselor of the school you want to go to.

P.S. Take out the name of the school, there are a lot of wackos on internet.

Getting a job for Holiday Inn. What can I do to increase my chance of getting a job there?

We Answered:

Dress nice even when you go in to pick up/hand in the application. Also, ask who is in charge of hiring and ask if they are around. If they are, maybe see if they arent too busy to talk to you.

That way you can ask them some questions, since I am sure you have questions. Good luck! I work in a restaurant that is attached to a hotel so if you have any questions about working in a hotel, feel free to ask...I have seen it all.

Discuss It!
