Construction Careers Center

went to a career center.. did i blow it??We Answered:
That's kind of tough... it isn't good that you didn't answer the question until she asked you... she might think you were trying to hide something... also it may take a few days because regardless if you've committed a crime or not they still need to do back round checks... I'd give it a couple days and after that call her (it makes it like you really are interested in the job and it's responsible) and continue to call every day until you get an answer... just be patient... if it doesn't work out just try somewhere else ya know? Good luck and I hope you get it ;)Maureen Said:
how dose my book report sound :)?We Answered:
im in eighth grade too =] first of all your first sentence doesnt make sense, its a fragment, and also you have a lot of spelling errors like "doent" and "wasent" in stead of e's they have apostrophes. anyways, also your sentences seem to be too long, try separating your ideas. Also you dont need to capitalize Observation Deck, and also i would try making the end better. it seems abrupt. good luck with it, just fix a few things.Harvey Said:
What are some good ways for a construction company to notice my resume? We Answered:
Reliability. Most construction projects are driven by deadlines with cost based incentives and penalties. While some companies may over staff to offset routine absenteeism, many prefer to avoid this expense altogether.Make the first bullet point your attendance. Get a letter confirming this even if you have to write it in first person yourself and have them just sign it.
The second bullet point should be the number of hours worked while attending college, especially if either one is "full time".
The third should be your "gpa".
You have been very active outside of school and concentrated on the most important aspect of higher education. You graduated without a mountain of student loan debt. Rather than waiting on construction related work, which may not have materialized, you controlled the situation with a more pragmatic solution in a very demanding field.
Using this as an opening statement to explain your lack of direct experience would come naturally and offer the interviewer insight they may not have considered. Good Luck.
