animal career please?

We Answered:

Get an AAS as a Veterinary Technician. My aunt is one. She works 3 days a week for a vet. She also owns a cattery (kennel for cats) that specializes in special needs cats, like insulin injections. Because she has 2 years of veterinary training, she can do things like administer medications. She can board cats in a comfortable environment, each space has a perch with a window. The vet she works for houses boarders in cages with no windows and a dozen other cats and dogs in there. Very stressful.

What are my chances the judge will grant me permission to move out of state with my children?

We Answered:

If you need to move there for employment (for you bf, but still) I think he'll allow it. You have to go where the jobs are.

However, (I hate to lay this on you but don't feel like I can ignore it) there is a book (nonfiction) called "A beautiful boy". Its about a boy that grows up in a situation like this, where the parents are divorced but live a few states apart and talks about how this is a big factor in the boy becoming a serious drug user. There were other factors and I don't mean to state that this would drive your child to be a drug user but it will likely be very, very hard on the child if they have to shuttle back and forth between states from time to time. I guess I'm saying do what you have to do, but this may end up being very difficult for your child.

Husband is thinking of Welding school?

We Answered:

I would recommend a program like Hobart Welding Institute http://www.welding.org which covers multiple facets of welding and can work on the money issues with you. You will be fine with a GED to get into school, certified welding certifications you can get from going to any recognized American Welding Society Test Facility http://www.aws.org. I would think that he would be better apt to head for Union Pipefitting or Boilermaking upon completion of the Hobart Welding School. Hope this helps, any further questions just email me.

How do I find internships for pre-med?

We Answered:

For some reason, IU puts its database of summer pre-med opportunities on the site for the Hutton Honors College, even though not all pre-med students are in the Hutton Honors College. It would make more sense to have the database at the HPPLC site, IMHO.

Columbia also has a list of opportunities, many of which are in NYC. The AAMC also has a list.

Pre-med related summer jobs (pay or volunteer) would be anything related to research or patient care. If you cannot find anything in those categories, find some other type of compassionate work, e.g. volunteering to work with underprivileged children, veterans, elderly, impoverished people, etc. or work related to public health.
