How to turn vegetarianism/veganism into a job or career?

We Answered:

A career counselour at your college may be able to help point you you in the right direction or you can go to the websites of peta.com, aspca.org, husus.org, wwf.org. They may have job openings.

Edit: I thought of another one, oceana.org

Paula Said:

is call center job, a dead-end career?

We Answered:

hi, great question and one I am wondering the same about. I start on Monday with a call center myself. But like one responder had said, there is a difference between a Tech Support position, and one that is based on cold calling, marketing or sales.

Inspite of hearing how there is a huge turn over rate, and the desperation for new employees of these companies. Hearing how 'bitching, complaining and obnoxious and rude comments" are the bulk of whats said to the Rep, trying to help a person with a tech problem. I am hoping its just a few or small percent of the total callers, and the exception and not the rule.

I have tried to google the company online, using search terms like, "co. name sucks", and wages, etc. Just to see what others on the web had to say, and or complain about. Thats what lead me to your ? about call center jobs, I googled that combined with "dead end".

But same say yes, it is or can be a dead end job, or else it can be a stepping stone to better jobs or careers. Part of the yea or nay is, if the call center or company offers training. And of course use your time there to compliment it or add to it. Just realize most jobs are just good for a paycheck, service industry driven jobs never do offer much in the long run. Short term is the paychecks, long term is what you do with your time, in planning for your next career move.

Honestly, being a cop, fireman or almost anything can be dead end, without a long term career goal. So good luck with your new job, and I hope to do well with mine. And sometimes you just never know where the winds of fate and fortune will guide and take us.

Sincerely,

don j
