I would respond to the first scenario like this. Look sir, I cannot keep you here against your will, your doctor has recommended that we test you for Sleep Apnea or other related disorders, and if you're uncomfortable being here, then we can let you go. If you choose to come back for a test, then it will be a bit of a wait. Another tactic that you can use with this patient is to say that you know that it may be intimidating for him to see all the tubes, and all the equipment that he will have to wear. You can mention to him, that he is welcome to try on the equipment and if he feels claustrophobic that you understand, and that he can come back, or you can talk with his doctor, and suggest like a home test that he can take at home.

Stay level headed with this question. Just say that you empathesize with what they are saying, even if you don't. Do NOT argue with them, just listen to them, and try to limit "your opinions" on what should happen. Sometimes they are just needing to have a sounding board.

I just graduated with my medical transcription certificate in July, and I haven't been able to find work. But considering the area I live in (knowing people helps you get a job) plus the terrible economy, I'm not too surprised. But most of the salary figures I've heard about for MT is no lower than $9/ hr, depending on the area you live in. It's a great job, if we could ever find one....
