It's just one of these problems in football.

Sometimes certain people hit an age where they just repeatedly get injured and when they do get injured it's for a long period.

Just look at Keiron Dyer and Owen Hargreaves as two perfect examples of this.

I imagine, when Alan moved to Man Utd it was an exciting period for him, but it was a poor move in hindsight, he was never that good. Well not good enough to be at the best club in England.

Alan Smiths carrer then went further down the pan by going to Newcastle!

He's a poor decision maker.
