First, only you can answer the question of when the best time for a career change would be. Go with your gut, don't be afraid to assert yourself as this tends to lead to much better opportunities. Trust your instinct as confidence not only boosts your self worth but also shines with a potential new employer( trust me, confidence is a most sought after quality by employers) As for the 3 month hiatus, it's simple, explain it as a self reorganization and priority change. Even the most successful business people often take some time between job changes to evaluate their position as well as enjoy some much needed R&R. If your abilities, qualifications and interview performance are strong, a good interviewer will pay little to no attention to the 3 month employment gap especially in this economy. Look into a career field that interests you, do some research, submit an application and most of all when you get an interview,relax and remember to talk with confidence, make eye contact, engage the interviewer and be yourself....if you do all this, a door will be opened and opportunities will present themselves...Good Luck!

I'm not in college yet so I lack experience but my parents told me, and I found from reasearch, that you should try looking for an internship first. Its eaiser to get hired for that before getting an actual office job. Then if the company likes you they will keep you and you'll have your start in their business.

You don't indicate what kind of work you have been doing since 98 nor what aspect of social work you would like to work in. That said. Most MSW Programs admit most of their students with degrees other than social work. You degree (especially in communication) will certainly give you a good background. If your interest is in going into human service administration then your degrees will be a real asset if you are looking at an MSW program with a concentration in administration. If you goal is to go more clinical or integrated you might also look at your volenteer experience, which can be as important. DA

I would first do a career planning assessment. Figure out what your strengths and weaknesses are and then decide what type of jobs would fit your skill set. Possibly a whole new field of study may be the answer for you. Not all high paying jobs require a ton of education behind them. Good luck to you.
