Alberto Said:

Have you ever taken a career assessment test?

We Answered:

My brother in law is a lot like that, and he decided to get into computer game designing. They use art and graphic design for the look and feel, but there is also a lot of technical work to implement. Other fields that spring to mind like this would be architecture and engineering.

If ultimately you can't find a job that blends both aspects (creativity and technical), try doing two things. For example, be a computer programmer by day (I often hear technologists at my company talking about "elegant coding" so you can be creative), and be a part time photographer at night (or teach a class, etc.).

Go for your dreams. The worst that happens is you get into a decent job like most people, and work hard to retire early and follow your passions :)

Good luck!

We Answered:

There are a variety of assessment tests depending on the career. Some are puzzles, some psychological tests you can't really prepare much for, etc.

What is the best career assessment test?

We Answered:

I've always liked the Myer's Briggs test, but if you are looking for something that is other than the norm, you could try the assessment in the book, 50 Best Jobs for your Personality which is a Jist publication. They also have a website, www.jist.com, that has many other assessments. The assessment helps you target your personality type (Conventional, Realistic, Entrepreneur, etc) then gives you many options for types of jobs you might enjoy doing, even breaking down the salaries and the type of education and training needed for the job. I really like this assessment because it asks what type of skills you like to use the most and the least, which is helpful in pinpointing the type of work I would be happiest doing.

Good Luck!!
