Career Change Architecture
Donald Said:
I am considering a career change and am very interested in Architecture. Do you need to know how to draw?We Answered:
Most drawing are done in CAD, I have seen some hand drawn sketches, but they are small scale and very straight forward (ie: maybe just showing cross section of a wall components)The courses that you take would be similar to Civil Engineering plenty of statics, calculus etc.., If you are more interested in the Engineering Aspect, maybe you should explore Building Engineering, It is quite similar to Architecture, but perhaps more scientific.
If you don't feel confident in the hard sciences, maybe consider Architectural Technology (maybe associates degree or similar), I have heard that the technologists do quite a bit of important work, while the architechts just come up with the concept. Plus, with this option, you would probably have a co-op, and you could continue to get your bachelors if you chose

Did Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture ever evolve or change during his career? We Answered:
Prairie style was at the height of his first entry into architecture.Usonian
Then he got into this love affair with circular forms. Short of the Guggenheim, his circular projects like Gammage are not his best work.
Dan Said:
What career change should a successful architect do after a redundancy.?We Answered:
Let's not beat around the bush, it is obvious that your definition of "successful" is different from the norm of society. First lesson you learn in life is that "successes" of the past bears little fruit should you have no talent and/or drive to follow through. If you truly were instrumental in getting those "prizes", you wouldn't be changing your career. Just because you were part of a prize winning firm does not give you the right to bask in their glory. For people reading this post, it goes to show you that getting into the "top grad school" does not mean a single thing if you don't do anything with your degree. As for what career change for a failed architect, you should consider working for a developer and be an owner's rep. But without knowing why you failed in this field, it's just a guess.Angela Said:
I studied 3 years of Architecture, Shall I change career to cope with the recession? We Answered:
if you love to do what you do then no, but i would go back to school and get your teaching degree in architecture if you do not already have it, so you can teach if you can not find another job
