Career Change Counselling
Katherine Said:
Is Counselling a good career to go into for me ?We Answered:
You can go to college and obtain the relevent NVQ's so that should't be too expensive for you.Counselling is a fairly tough career and you need to be in the possession of some pretty powerful qualities, strengths and skills.
Your work will be to actually "Listen" to peoples problems and ofering to help in various ways. Asking "open" questions, refering your clients to supporting organisations etc etc.
The real problem is that you can easily become too involved, you can often feel the need to take control personally, it is often difficult to remain detached and you will often take your case-load home with you.
You need to be a tough character with fantastic communication, empathy and people skills.
Visit your local college of FE and speak to one of the Tutors who specialises in Counselling and decide if this is the Career you want to persue.

Have you ever made a HUGE career change? We Answered:
Hey...well..here is my story...After high school, I thought I wanna go to medical university..( to be honest, all of my relatives urge me to go there and both parents, too. ) I didn't pay much attention to what I really want to be..so I chose to go to that field..but after 2 years in the Medical University, I found myself no longer absorbed in that field..I mean I tried to read, study and concentrate on my study..but in vain..days passed miserably and so do months..
At last, I couldn't bear no more..and then I went to Maritime University against all the protest of my relatives and family..and now I think I have a better and interesting life than that of 3 years ago..
Hey...have u ever heard the saying..?? It said..we have to choose something new if we don't wanna lose ourselves in the old environment..I mean..u r no longer happy in your work, right??
then...what r u waiting for?? Just make a change...
I mean...I haven't changed careers like u...but I changed from one university to another completely different field..right?? it makes me happier since I don't have to pass my days in the same routine..
Good luck in changing!!

Career Change NEED HELP!?We Answered:
Well, this sounds like a hard decision. It's an especially difficult time to be changing careers, especially if you are not sure it's going to pay off financially in the end. If you are already financially stable as it is, I would say go after your dream. It's true, there are no promises. But don't you think it's better to have failed then to have never tried at all? Trust me, you don't want to spend the rest of your years, thinking your current job is "ok, but what if I had purused my dream...?" You're still young, so why not? Go for it, and with all the messed up people in this country alone, psychology doesn't seem like a bad field to go into! Good Luck with everything!xoxo,
Morgan<3 : )

Any advice for someone looking to change careers? We Answered:
Full time schooling isn't the big thing for you right now. Keeping up with the technology is. So if there are mini classes offered by Vista and others, jump on them instead.Sue Said:
I'm looking to change career into counselling but dont know where to start? We Answered:
check out Relate. I believe they do in-house training for their staff. It might be a quick route to the career you want, before you study at university for years and years to be a psychologist / psychiatrist...Samantha Said:
career change from mortgages officer to something stable? We Answered:
I have no idea where you live, but I think the natural step for him would be mortgage servicing and/or operations. That is the field I am in. He already has a lot of knowledge of the industry, and there are many different areas to choose from like:Collections, escrow (tax and insurance tracking), payments, originations, foreclosure, bankruptcy, call center, etc...
