Fernando Said:
What has happened to etiquette in the business world? We Answered:
You know, what you described can be perceived differently.1) The family member had a point in what they said, but at the same time, the situation can be perceived differently.
2) If the agency had no ettiquette, why did they keep your profile on file for 6 months. Then calling you, when a position came up they thought you were suitable for. That sounds very professional to me. As they could have discarded your file.
The fact they called YOU, over the possible hundreds of candidates, who may have been to that agency over the last 6 months applying for a job, just goes to show their loyalty to their applicants.
As i said, its a different perspective and your family member may not be right on this issue. Also , at the end of the day, a business is not defined by an individuals mistake. If the original interveiwer failed in giving you a call back. Does not mean there is NO etiquette in business. It just means the particular person may have been overwhelmed with work at the time, just like any workplace .
You should be thankful, you got a call back after 6 months. Not resentful.
Especially if you want something from them. As i said im sure they had hundreds of applicants over that 6 month period they could have chosen and called.
