I need a change of career! Any ideas? We Answered:
This is a tough one. IT contractor in London? There probably aren't many jobs that will pay that much unless you go to work in the City (which you may already). Otherwise you need to train to become a doctor or something. You probably have a lot of money saved. Can you think of something you might actually enjoy doing? Now might be a good time to take a break for a few years and go back to univ. and learn something interesting. IT contracting is all about the money. Only some seriously scary people would ever say they are honestly passionate about it. You aren't getting any younger. You could save another 200,000 pounds doing something you hate until 40 and then move to Spain. Or you could take back your life (very scary) right now and start enjoying it again. It is not an easy decision however. Good luck !Greg Said:
Ideas on career change?We Answered:
As a legal secretary you must have heard some crazy / amusing stories. There are online businesses who will sell or publish these for a minimal fee. This way you get to stay at home while you work & get paid. There are online courses to help you learn to write short stories etc. if you need the help. Just a suggetion, but look at JK Rowling now.Ryan Said:
Career Change for Canadian MILF Any Ideas? We Answered:
If by MILF you really mean MILF then I suggest porn. I guess it's not "family friendly'" but you could work from home!Daryl Said:
I need Career change ideas? We Answered:
Saint John is a great town. I visit there several times a year for business, doing Public Affairs in the energy sector. You might want to consider using your marketing skills to work in the Communications/Public Affairs field.Saint John is becoming a regional energy centre. There is a lot of activity associated with the Irving energy companies, NB Power (soon to be run by Hydro Quebec) and the provincial Department of Energy. Depending on how high up the food chain you would be, employment with any of these organizations would be lucrative. Unfortunately, the bigger the job, the less time for the kids.
Saint John also has a number of small communications consulting firms. They might not pay as well as the others, but they'd likely afford you a more flexible work schedule.
Also, depending on the position you seek, you may not have to upgrade your marketing degree.
Good luck!

i need a new job/career change. any ideas?We Answered:
First of all, figure out what you like and dislike. A lot of people change careers because they dislike their job, their boss, their company. What do you really like doing when you're at work, when you're at home - in your spare time.Once you've discovered (or rediscovered) your passion, spend some time researching the types of careers that center around your passions.
Leverage some of your current skills and experiences to your new career. There are many skills that are transferable and applicable to what you want to do in your new career.
You may find it necessary to update your skills and broaden your knowledge. Take a course or two to ensure you really like the subject matter. If you are going for a new degree or certification, make sure you check the accreditation of the school, and get some information about placement successes.
One of the real keys to successfully changing careers will be your networking abilities. People in your network may be able to give you job leads, offer you advice and information about a particular company or industry, and introduce you to others so that you can expand your network.
You'll need to be flexible about nearly everything - from your employment status to relocation and salary. Set positive goals for yourself, but expect setbacks and change - and don't let these things get you down.
