Becoming a teacher would be a bad idea for you. It is the most political job you could choose. Patience and tact are the most important personality traits for being a teacher. Think of each student as a political animal who will make your life miserable if they smell any personality weakness or defect and who will rat on you to their parents who will demand your head if there is a scintilla of truth to their allegations.

On the other hand, you should try running for your town's school board. Being detail oriented is a major asset for being on the school board. Being a good organizer and seeing the big picture is a big plus for someone on the school board. Lastly, being on the school board will benefit your children by getting them the royal treatment from their teachers and administrators.

If being a member of the school board isn't for you, I suggest finding a marketing job. Marketing requires a social sciences degree, attention to detail, and persistence. The only drawback would be your husband wouldn't appreciate all the hours you are taking away from your family. Marketing is a 24/7 job.
