Career Change Teacher

Tiffany Said:

I am considering making a career change to become a teacher.?

We Answered:

This is the question that I was BORN TO ANSWER.

Teaching is a great career - you make differences in peoples lives, get a great salary, and get the summers off.

I have a bachelor's degree in Business (Finance and Management concentration) and then I earned my master's degree in Education and my teaching certificate in Business Education.

I now teach high school (Grades 9 - 12) Business Education.

Business Education at the high school level includes courses like marketing, accounting, secretarial, information and communication technology, general business, finance, entrepreneurship, law, economics, etc.

You need to go and find a college that will give you a teaching certificate in Business Education. Good schools are Canisius College in Buffalo, the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Ball State University, and many others in EVERY STATE.

If you want to teach college or university level business courses, you do not need a teaching certificate, but you usually need an MBA and business experience. BUSINESS EXPERIENCE IS NOT REQUIRED FOR HIGH SCHOOL BUSINESS COURSES.

E-mail me if you have any questions.

Jennie Said:

Should change career from office manager to teacher?

We Answered:

I remember you got this managerial job in rather difficult circumstances.. and a man who was the manager at that company where you are employed now.. under the old boss who retired .. was dismissed and you got his job. I believe you owe yourself and those who believe in you that you can become a good junior manager a little more time to prove to yourself and to the others that you do not only have teaching qualities.. but that you also have what it takes to make a good manager.. Don't quit so easily.. you have only done this for 6 months now.. if it really doesn't work out there is always a chance to go to evening school and study some more and try to become a teacher.. Right now... I would suggest.. prove that you have all it takes to make a good manager.. you got interpersonal skills and you are young and adaptable.. It's not an easy job.. but neither is teaching I am sure... at least I would give it my best shot and give it a year before you decide this is clearly not for you.. and maybe by then you are happy in your job as a manager.... Everything is tough at the beginning.. the more you grow with the job and into your job.. the easier it will get.. xxx
