Randall Said:

what should my major be based on these facts about myself?

We Answered:

I don't know a terrible lot about the field. . . but what about something akin to actuarial science? That sort of thing is usually boring to most people, but might be fun to you if you like numbers, statistics, etc.

(It also allegedly doesn't pay too bad from what I've heard, but please don't make me give you the "you should like your job for what it is, not just for what it pays" speech I've heard a lot over the years in engineering.)

As an alternative, are you sure that it's not just your professors who are turning you off to your current field? I'd also suggest maybe trying to talk to people in the real world about what they do to see if maybe it's not worth suffering through what might just be mediocre teaching to get to what you really like to do.

Jessie Said:

Associate's Degree in Nursing or Master's in Childhood Education?

We Answered:

You have an important decision in front of you. The big dilemma is balancing your lack of desire to waste the money you earned ($11,000 in scholarships is great! that's about half of a Bachelor's or most of an Associate's) against your lack of desire to be in school.

School will always be there, but the money won't. If you don't want to be there and don't think you're getting anything out of it, you won't because you have already created the mental block. On the other hand, it's hard to work 2-3 jobs just to pay for 12 credit hours, and easy to get excited about something when you commit to it.

You sould like a relatively rational reasonable young lady, so I will tell you this big secret - stay in school now, get your master's and then, when you are in your 30s you will have the $$ to explore life - and honestly, you'll learn a lot of life lessons just being in school. When you leave school, you learn the lesson of "life is work. then you die." Don't be in any big rush to do that. All the social lessons, well, to quote Homer Jay "There's a time and a place for everything, boy. That's called college."

Pick something you think you are going to love, and explore it in school. Nothing beats working at something you love. You will be able to find internships that will elt you experience what some of those jobs will be like. Teacher, while not high paying, unless you get into private schools and university level teaching, is very satisfying - my parents siblings and myself have all been instructors of some fashion. We may not have had a lot, but we're smart and creative.

Personally -stay in. It's worth it. Life will always be there.

all the answers are within you; having been in Nepal you must have picked up some form of meditation so sit down and practice some mediation daily, in the stillness of the mind the answer will come to you.

i pray you do well in life.

Grace Said:

I have no idea what career i want!?

We Answered:

Most people don't know what they want to be at that age, and the ones that think they do often end up changing anyway. A quiz won't really tell you - the best thing to do is pick a field of study at college that keeps the most options open and do everything you can to get internships or volunteer in the field you're studying. Most people won't know what they enjoy or not until they're actually doing it on the job.

I was fortunate enough to stumble into my career after one of 3 paid internship positions. I'd changed a few times before then. So many of my friends did similar things where they had a few jobs before they found a specific niche they really liked. Looking back, the idea we can figure out what we want to do with the rest of our lives when we're just 16 is pretty crazy.

Carol Said:

What should I do with my life?

We Answered:

I would suggest that you open a Bible and read, John 3:16-18. Then start reading at the beginning of the Book of John. The answers are there, my friend.

Career direction. Any ideas?

We Answered:

For one, you could just hook up w/ a temp agency - they'll ask you what type of work you'd be interested in and you can work jobs anywhere from a day here to six months there.. the pros are you get a little experience in different fields and get a feel for different industries for awhile. Plus, you could fall in love w/ something and you get a chance to get hired on permanently at your discretion - the cons? You don't always get benefits.

Number two: Go to a four year college. You will always need to take your general educational requirements - which is VERY helpful at finding out where your interests lie, and THEN choose your major. Now you know more of what makes you tik, and more about the ones that don't!

Last but not least: Work for yourself at home - these are beginning to be VERY popular - many ppl don't want to work for other ppl - This is what I do, the pay is great, and I'm very happy. It allows you to be creative so things are always changing, never routine - http://executivehomebody.com

If you smoked marijuana habitually in the past, can you still obtain a career as a police officer?

We Answered:

Yes, you can still "obtain" a career. With marijuana they are usally looking at the past few years. Since you have changed your life around and stopped being a pot-head you have a good chance. Just be honest!!!
