Career Change To It

Dolores Said:

Looking for a career change, what can I do with my background?

We Answered:

You may be able to parlay your staffing experience into a corporate HR job. (Probably still starting in recruiting, but that can open doors into other areas of HR.)

You may also be a candidate for a sales role; that is what recruiting is, after all. Your Enterprise experience would be helpful there as well. You'd need a product line that is not too technically complex, or one that the company would be willing to train you on.

Theodore Said:

Do Recruiters and HR Managers consider someone making a career industry change or just by last job title?

We Answered:

For recruiters you are only as good as your last job experience (rather than title) because they get paid by the company to supply them with a tried and true employee, else why bother paying a fee?
Pretty much ditto HR, because they are in the position of having to recommend the employee to the department head who will supervise them, and they need to supply good matches to justify their position.
Transferable skills are great to have but the company is still taking on an unknown quality and figure they'll have to do lots of training in specifics that they'de rather avoid.
Also in larger companies people get pigeonholed and it can be difficult to even transfer to other departments.

So basically your transferable skills will serve you well in a small company where everyone wears different hats. Unless your new career involves a specialized skill that is difficult to find, then they would not care about the past because they'd want what you have to offer.
If your new career encompasses a crowded field you will have a lot of problems beating out the competition.
Of course, the best way to make a career change is to know someone in the new field whom you can approach personally and ask it they would hire you.

To be honest your question makes little sense

There is no job guarantee anywhere for anyone, but the best chances for you are to maybe become qualified in your chosen subject eg Computing, but please remember the competition is fierce and only the most successful will succeed in this competitive job market that we are in just now .
