Need Job Advice about a Car Sales Career CHange- HELP!?

We Answered:

Go to the bigger NEW car dealership. There is more money potential there. There will be more advancement opportunities, and it will look better on your resume' several years down the line. Also, they will probably offer benefits, although the smaller places may not. Good luck.

How do you do a lateral career change out of an industry (sales) without having to go back to school?

We Answered:

Just honestly answer a simple question: what are you good at with your current education and experience?

Clinton Said:

I really need a career change...Sales seem to be my niche..sold cars Nah..Cosmetics Nah..would LOVE Realstate?

We Answered:

Real estate is hard unless you have the big bucks or good credit. What exactly do you want to do in real estate. You know you have to spend money to get a license and then work for someone else? Why not not look into starting your own business and using your skills and abilities for your own money?

Career Change: College Instructor to Sales?

We Answered:

With your education you need only buy sales oriented books that tell you how to market or get a marketing for dummies book, to get you on the right track... As for going into sales and being successful that's another question. I would say from my experience; that selling anything requires high motivation and energy along with an exceptionally huge attitude. Depression will kill a successful sales person so there's no room for negative. Getting into some high motivation would be the key. There are plenty of resources out there to get you started, but then again there is a catch.... You have to follow the strategy and be persistent. So often I listen to people that got into the "Secret" and became disillusioned when they didn't become overnight millionaires, and there in lies the key: Get motivated, get moving, and get with it! There isn't a sales manager in the world that wouldn't want a highly motivated, ready to bust out of the gate person representing and selling their companies product...Even if they lacked experience. Good luck and hang in there:)

Is a career in Insurance sales a good decision?

We Answered:

I spent nearly 3 yrs working for an Insurance Company. I didn't make a dime.

However, I worked for an Agent as a Service and Sales person. I got a piece of the inital policy sale, but no residuals.

I've had friends go the big sale route and seen some flourish and others fail.

Some key things to know about:

What are the company quotas? Does your husband need to produce x number of policies each month or they drop him?

What's his payout on the 1/4 that they give him? Are they older policies that are on the lowest tier of commissions? If it's Life Insurance, are they the older crowd that may all die off over the next 10 years? This would force to not only find new business, but find new business just to replace the lost business...

Does your husband have small business experience? Does he, or can he build, a team of trusted people to: structure his company correctly, do his books, generate leads, etc.?

Is he looking to be Self Employed or a Business owner? As a Self-employed person he must keep working to keeep the income flowing in. As a Business owner he should eventually be able to walk away from the office and still have it make money via the people he's hired. Sales, service, etc.
