Career change?We Answered:
You don't say what you design but if you go with what you design you should be good at marketing it as you should know what you are talking about. Maybe you could look at becoming a consultant in what ever you design.Wesley Said:
What is a good career change option for someone working in the IT industry? We Answered:
Maybe it isn't about IT but more about the industry within which you work. For example, if you have been doing IT work in banking, maybe its time for a change to the medical field. I say medical since I know someone who is an IT guy for our state organ donor network. He loves his job and wouldn't trade it for the world. He puts in long hours but loves not only what he does but the people he works with. Soul search about that - IT isn't going away and your skills will be transferrable. It would be a shame to throw away all your valuable knowledge just to start over.Nellie Said:
career change?We Answered:
I went through the same thing...I finally quit my job a couple months ago...partly because I just also had our 2nd child. Anyhow, I was in real estate and stressed out all the time, the day I quit, was the day I could start laughing again, sleep at night and smile and not let most things get to me. I have not looked back. I thought I'd utilize my time since I decided to stay home. I am starting back to school in a month and will be getting a teaching credential so I can become a teacher. What better way? Great hours, summers off, holidays off, weekends off, great benefits/retirement, still get to spend alot of time with my family and be able to pick the girls up from school when the start school down the road. Good luck, pick something that you have a passion for, life is too short to be miserable, I wish I would have figured that out a few years back.Jennie Said:
Making a career change. What are the strategies to market myself so I can at least land a job interview? We Answered:
First thing to have a good resume. That should contain a good career objective and also some snapshots of what you are having and what you can project and your aims.becuase this will be the first thing employer will see and most often most selection made on these.
then you need to hover around good job portals like monster an naukri. Thats it.

How to convince recruiters about a career change to Corporate Finance? We Answered:
You need to find a hiring manager that will take a chance on you. Avoid head hunters or recruiters. They are looking for easy, no-brainer, matches. They are usually a step up from used car salesmen in my opinion. You may need to take a cut in pay to make this happen. I made a career change in IT from one technology to another and I was able to find a manager that took a chance on me, but I had to take a 20% cut in pay. At the time, I had no mortgage or kids and I was able to do it without it seriously impacting my lifestyle.
Good luck.

Career Change from accounting to entirely new field? We Answered:
After Sarban Oxley, there were a lot of accountant lost their job. First of all you should make sure changing job is what you really want and not because you can't find a job. Keep in mind that you must at least enjoy what you do for living, otherwise, you will be miserable which is not good for you or people close to you. Why not consider building a career using your accounting training? I think there will be a lot of demand on "baby boomer" related business, like medical administrator, assistant living manager, or other business management job. With solid accounting training, it is easier to learn management side of the job.Compare Nursing and IT field, nursing probably has more demand in the foreseeable future, although the over supply is happening in some cities. IT particularly networking area has too many people fighting for a shrinking field.
