Career Change Toronto

Margie Said:

Help with University/Career Planning (Canada)?

We Answered:

Hmm..
I think its cool that you're thinking about not taking the exam right away but have it ready in case you want it later on.
However, if you want a law degree primarily, then I think that you should get the whole thing if you're going to go through all the years of schooling.
Becoming a police officer requires going to a police college thing etc, and if that's been your dream then go for that first. If you still wanted the law degree, then you may even be able to get it while you work as a cop (or vice versa)?
I guess it really depends on what, out of the three choices you have, career interests you the most and which one do you see yourself as being happy and successful in.
Go for the one that appeals to you the most first, or one that will provide you with the most career opportunities and see how you like the program. If you don't like the one you've chosen, then you can always switch to another.
(Thats what I ended up doing. Aside from being a published writer I had my heart set on becoming a psychiatrist ror psychologist. After a year of university I decided that I wanted something that would allow me to get a job sooner and give me more career opportunities in a variety of areas. So I plan on switching to nursing (psychiatrics preferably.)
You won't know which of the choices you'll like until you try them out. : )
good luck

What do you think of the IB Program?

We Answered:

Oh hey, I live near Vancouver too! ( I live in Richmond). I'm in gr.10 so I'm not in the IB program, but my brothers an IB student from Churchill. From what I see, it definitely kills your social life, because you have huge amounts of homework. But I guess it's worth it because apparently universities really want IB students. So it's kind of like all your hard work pays off because you can get into a good university. People from my brother's school get accepted into schools like Harvard, Yale, etc. Sometimes my brother stays up half of the night trying to finish his homework, and he has to work through the summer and study for tests that they have on the first week of school..
Anyways, that's mostly all I know for my point of view, sorry I couldn't be much help ( because I'm not even in the IB program!) but hope this helps a bit with your research!
