Info on Career Transition Counselors? We Answered:
I beg to differ, but they are not a scam. I worked for an international career counceling firm for 4 years. Basically, depending on the program you purchase, you receive a revamped resume, copies on paper and electronically, use of the office to conduct your job search, (my company had a job site like Monster), mock interviews to prepare you for interviewing, workshops to discuss the best way to go about your interview, prepare your resume, change careers completely, etc. There was a lot involved. Look up Drake, Beam, Morin Inc. (DBM) They have a lot of information.EDIT: DBM used to charge anywhere from 250.00 to 30,000 depending on the program and the level of the individual. A CEO would get a 30,000 program.

What is a good field to transition into with a sociology degree? Been working in social services? We Answered:
Hi Sharla! Congratulations on accomplishing this goal. As you know, sociology is the study of groups and within lots of professions there is a need for professionals that understand behaviour within the groups they influence and serve. It's safe to assume you will have lots of opportunities and the most important thing is picking something great for you! It's always a good idea to look at what YOU are interested in to find what YOU should be doing. For Instance:
If you are interested in advertising and marketing and you decide to get a graduate degree in business (MBA) with an emphasis in Marketing, your Sociology background will give you insight to buyer behavior.
If you like government, you'll have an advantage studying politics through an understanding of voter behavior.
Likewise, if you are interested in education, your sociology background can help you learn student management, curricula design or do research on factors affecting learning styles.
I'm sure you get the idea. If you need help defining the things you are interested in, try some career counseling books ("What Color Is Your Parachute" is a great one) and stop by the career center at your local college.
Good luck!

Career Transition Help?We Answered:
Just go on monster and read through positions that are looking for what you have to offer. Apply and let them decide! My office, which is in the insurance industry, hires people from all fields because they have leadership experience. It doesn't matter when title you had or what you sold. You have a skill that many other people do not have. You seem to be very well rounded and ambitious. Just go for something new and exciting. If you don't get it, well then just try again with something else.
Good Luck!
