Want to teach but am studying Psychology. What do I do to change my career path? Plz help!?We Answered:
There are SEVERAL options you can do!Psychological studies definitely help teachers in the long run. I would compare the degree path of the one you have now in comparison to the one you want - what classes are the same? What will you need to take? That's where your university academics office comes in handy - go talk to the education department and discuss the issue. They will know the best way to go about obtaining the degree you want and point you in the right direction - there are alternative ways for certification.
Also, consider these other options - joining the Peace Corps or Teach for America. One of my colleagues used to teach English in Africa, but she is currently an Art teacher. She was in the Peace Corps, and while she had to live in poverty, she was able to travel overseas and do something she wanted.
Teach for America is similar to the Peace Corps - you teach for 2 years in a certain location chosen by Teach for America. You're employed just like a standard teacher, but you have a few classes on top of it to attend. After those two years, you are given a teaching certification in your area and much of your student loans will be forgiven on top of it. The organization was created to attract more teachers to the field AND bring them to poor schools. The downside is you can't choose the school you teach in, but I think you can choose the state.
So, talk to your university's education department and the academics office. They can help you, and look in to the options I mentioned above. It is possible - while it might take time, it will be worth it.

Can someone help me with a choice I must make regarding Psychology major? We Answered:
I have a doctorate degree in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) degree but while getting my degree I worked with just a bachelors and then I worked with a Master's degree on my way. How employable you are really depends on the state you live in. What makes you very employable is being independently licensed; be it in social work or with a MA in clinical or counseling psychology. For example, even with a doctorate degree it was very difficult finding a job since it is a requirement that I work a year before I can take a licensing exam and very few places wanted to hire me since I was not licensed (a catch 22). This was particularly true in the state of Pennsylvania; but less so in the state of Ohio. I think it is extremely easy finding a job with a BA in psychology, but it will probably pay under 30K a year and it depends on the population you want to work with. When I was in NJ with a BA in Psychology, I got a job working as a residential counselor in a residential treatment facility for adolescent boys (I am a child psychologist so I always wanted to work with children). In the state of Pennsylvania, nearly every town (be in rural or urban) is in need of Therapeutic Staff Support (better known as TSS-part of wraparound or BHRS services) . A TSS is to work one on one with a boy or girl (typically in school) who has conduct problems, ADHD, or autism, etc. and the goal is to transition skills to the teacher. In short, I recommend you pursue a BA in Psych because if you for some reason change your mind about what you want to do professionally, you can easily go into business, pre-med, law, or whatever graduate program. Most graduate programs in most professions mostly just want you to have a Bachelor's Degree and have a good GPA and since Psychology is one of the easier majors, I know a lot of pre-med students that got a degree in Psychology.Ricky Said:
Personal Statement Help Please !! thanks :)?We Answered:
Please let me know if this works for you. I removed a bit of unneeded phrasing. You've made your points clearly, and I wish you success! Why do I want to go on to higher education? Ever since I started secondary school at the age of eleven I have wanted to pursue further education at university. Originally I wanted to become a primary school teacher, but after much work experience in that field, I realized that this was not what I wanted to do. Instead, I have developed a great interest in the marketing industry, where I have noticed massive opportunities yet to be exploited; this is where I belong. I believe the industry would challenge my more creative side as well as test my theoretical skills. I'm particularly interested in the more creative advertising side of marketing and the psychology behind it.
I'm very business minded and have many ideas which I can expand on in the future. But before I do so I want to be more knowledgeable about the marketing industry; if I go into this field of work I want to know the characteristics I need to build on for success in this field.
My auntie is also part-owner of a family business, so I have experienced business throughout my life; I believe this has contributed to my passion towards this subject. I have just recently undergone two weeks’ work experience at her business. I helped to create leaflets and posters in order to reach out to the local and wider community. I found this thoroughly interesting and I now want to gain a much deeper insight into the marketing sector.
In October I returned from a 2 ½ month voluntary project in Kenya run by a government scheme called Platform2. The aim of the trip is to provide 18-25 year olds the opportunity to visit a developing country and get involved with global issues of justice and poverty. Whilst in Kenya I lived with a local family for the ten-week duration. I worked with an ongoing conservation project in order to help conserve the ecosystem by improving the livelihoods or communities adjacent to the forest through an environmentally sustainable income. This experience has undoubtedly broadened my perspective of the world. It became clear to me that in Kenya, everyone tried to help one another get by; they were all in the same boat. Here, most people try to just get in their own boat and sail their own course. Over there people know that if they don’t build a boat together, they sink. Volunteering in Kenya in an underprivileged community has undoubtedly developed my life skills and fostered the creativity within me. It has nurtured my ability to be flexible in changing conditions, and to adapt and adjust to new environments and cultures. Platform2- ‘Some People wait for change to happen, other people volunteer.’
All my experiences have made me keen to broaden my knowledge, and given the chance I will do so with full dedication, determination and continuous persistence; I am a motivated, sophisticated and charismatic individual who believes you only get one chance to make a first impression. Accomplishing my objective to obtain a degree in the marketing field and seeing that I have worked towards my potential will be the basis of my success in the future.

please help...10 points!!?We Answered:
As an intended Psycology major, i believe that it is wise to not only to read about the science of human behavior, but to also experience differing personalities. This can be accomplished by exposing oneself to a multicultural environment, like ****. I believe that in order to truly become successful when building a Psycology career, I should not only meet different people but actually get a full understanding of their cultures and beliefs. This is not only a requirement, it is my passion, and when i encountered ****, I saw that it not only offers an excellent psychology program but the rich diversity makes life on campus a true recipie for success. I hope to start off my education in **** because I feel as though it is a place where I can be both physically and mentally prepared for whatever future obstacles I encounter as a psychologist.um, so it's for a college application? you might want to get more to the point because you're "thesis" statement is about wanting cultural experiences in psycology or something like that. some of the wording is impersonal for a college application and you start it off like a term paper or something. either go for personal or objective, but this is a confusing mix of them. pick one and stick to it. the main ideas were great, but you might want to try to enhance your vocabulary choices and condense sentences to be more effective.
good luck!

Can somebody tell me if this is a well written essay..?We Answered:
You still don't answer the question of why it's so important to meet people from different cultures. What problems would be solved by getting to know different cultures? What can you learn about other cultures that would help you with your career?
