Change Career To Teaching
Kirk Said:
career change to teaching?We Answered:
Teaching science in high school or middle school is really an excellent choice. I live in Texas, and anybody certified to teach that subject is absolutely guaranteed a job in the state. There are even some proposals at the moment for science teachers to be paid twice as much as teachers in other subjects. Teaching science would be a good career move, and although it is difficult to do (I am a teacher), it really is rewarding when you find yourself in a positive situation. That said, do be careful about where you get your degree. Check your state's certification requirements to make sure an online program can recommend your for certification (that's a real issue).
Also, I know that some schools in Texas are not as inclined to hire teachers from online programs because they've (theoretically) had less practical experience in real-world classrooms. An online teaching degree may make you marketable, but I guarantee that this is one field where a degree from a traditional school would make you much more marketable.
