Change Management Career
Mario Said:
I am planning to take up Change Management (ITIL ) as a career . is it good ?We Answered:
ITIL Change Management is not a "career", it's a set of vocabularies, processes and methodologies. If you're really asking whether being familiar with it is enough to land a good job, I would say "No". Having it in your toolbox as an experience or skillset will help qualify you for some positions but it's generally just a checklist skill. Bear in mind that ITIL is not likely to be used in small companies, at least not rigorously, so if you were making that your main field of expertise you're likely to end up in big companies. From a career growth perspective, you'd be well advised to have a variety of change management/quality management frameworks under your belt. (Getting certified/belted and having experience with the various software tools supporting these methodologies is often critical!)Good luck!

Career change: Project Management to Retail - HELP!?We Answered:
Having been in retail for 26 years, retail stinks, especially nowadays with stores being open 24 hours at Christmas and stuff. You make crummy money unless in store management (smaller stores you make nothing) or as a district manager, which usually takes a long time, unless you relocate. You will probably have to work your way up, and it's best not to pigeonhole yourself into fashion either (less opportunity/money). I would highlight your supervisory skills, prioritizing, and dealing with the unexpected-able to multi-task under pressure would be a good way of putting it. I don't mean to sound so negative, but at least in construction you have regular hours with holidays off usually. Good luck in your new career endeavor!
