Change Of Career At 50

Shane Said:

What's a good degree to obtain online that can lead to a good career?

We Answered:

There are no online degrees that are really good. Most careers that pay well require more schooling and hands on classroom time. You might be able to do a few courses online, but you really should look into a school. Pick whatever interests you the most that you know is practical such as accounting, aircraft mechanic, whatever. Pick what you like to do.

Doris Said:

Is there a entity that could help me with basic education so I may go back to school for a change of career?

We Answered:

Congrats to you now its time for you to do you eh? Try contacting your local and state agencies they should have something implemented for the baby boomer generation. Check out special programs for adult students. For example, find people who can tutor you or search for a support group of older people going back to college. If you don't have one, maybe just by putting a ad in your local newspaper or www.craigslist.org will bring others to you. More and more adults are returning to college so you're not alone. One is never to old to learn... GOOD LUCK :)

gay male community only ?

We Answered:

Is it a bad thing, not where I am standing no. I think you are old enough and level headed to do this, I don't see why not. If you were 16 I may have an issue, however if you put the time into your body and feel sexy for the first time in your life, then I say you have free reign to do whatever you want really.

B-School / Career Change?

We Answered:

at cross roads? carefull not to get run over!
suggest some reading and self analysis.
'what colour is your parachute'
'48 days to work you love'
read digest reassess take notes.
check out local /school career counseling (free). ask your self - am i interested in a job or a career (something i would do for "love of it') there is a difference.
should you find a field of different interest , check out their associations at national and then at local level to find the truth not what a college tells you.
as for 'good schools', pedigrees are not that great to the real world smart employer. Production is.
recent major MBA school study found out the average MBA after 5 yrs earned 93000$
(while in school debt of 125000$). go figure.
ask your self what opionons, fears, assumptions, pre judgements you are willing to change to suceed in your life.

Rafael Said:

I need a career change, what should I do?

We Answered:

Any possibility of promotion where you are at? The higher up the ladder you go, the less filing you do. :)

If I were in your shoes, I would take my current background and find a promotable job with a company. That way you would more than likely get a raise, and a change of scenery. Just keep your job until you find a new one, you seem more valuable to hiring managers that way.

And go back to school to finish a bachelors in something, even if it was general business.

Good luck
