Stacey Said:

How does a 49 year old man change careers?

We Answered:

There are tons of things your friend can do. Have him look at all these career fields and see if anything jumps out at him. He can read all about each one, what it means, what you would do, salary, etc. There are so many specialized schools around that all he would have to do is put in his zip code and he would be presented with multiple schools in his area that have courses in what he is looking for. You can look up anything on this site from becoming a chef to a medical assistant. Its a great resource for someone who is looking to change careers. I would advise your friend to start here so he can really figure out what he wants to do with his career. I hope this helps out.

Lillian Said:

What is the best way to change careers while pursuing your degree?

We Answered:

Researching and networking are key to pursuing your dream! While taking public relations and business courses join PRSSA, Public Relations Student Society of America. Learn more at http://www.prssa.org/about/default.asp. If there is no chapter contact a nearby PRSA chapter, Public Relations Society of America, or PRSSA chapter to see if they will start one. Or, find out what other related student professional organizations are available on your campus. Get involved by attending meetings and activities regularly. Join a committee or board.

Also, research fields at the library or online using the Occupational Handbook and other sources. Talk to instructors, business leaders, owners, and others in the fields you're interested in. Conduct an informal survey about their job requirements, daily work schedule and habits, challenges, type of typical work and the not so typical, work hours, pay, benefits, etc.

Once you know you are probably interested in that field contact your campus career and employment office to help you obtain a part-time job or work for school credit.

The more you can research the field and gain experience in that area of interest the happier you will be that your hard work paid off.

Have fun in the process and best of luck!!

Commercial drivers license(CDL) .... 10 weeks .. then as long as it takes you to get good enough to pass your driving test.... most people pass on the 2nd test ... altogether takes from 3-4 months ... then you can get a job for about $40,000 for the first year ... after you get 1 year over the road experience you can find local jobs or long haul jobs making 60-70 thousand yearly or more .

Marion Said:

Which courses are best to study if i want to change careers and become a web designer?

We Answered:

The ones that include subjects like: Dreamweaver, Fireworks (or the whole Macromedia suite) Corel Draw, Photoshop, Front Page, Maya, and of course HTML which is nowadays underrated but it is a basement to understand the web world. Some of JAVA and VISUAL NET (programming languages) would be good and Microsoft Visio as well.
I don´t think you can find a course including all these subjects as a whole but most of them are easy to find.
