Changing Career From It
Johnnie Said:
Changing career from IT manager to recruiter? We Answered:
Tell them the truth. You're having difficulty finding work as an IT Manager and you want to try something different. Just make sure that you make it clear that you're not looking to switch back later. You're in it for the long haul. Also point out what specific experience you have in areas of "overlap" between the fields. If I were hiring you, I'd completely understand you reasons for wanting to switch. I mean... there are a lot worse reasons to switch careers.

What are your thoughts on me changing my career from being a CPA to studying to be a physician? We Answered:
What the heck? Go for it. Might as well give it a try if you can afford to do so.Raymond Said:
Career changing from Human Resources to accounting? We Answered:
Accounting can be a great career and right now accountants are in demand. I have a bachelors degree in managerial accounting, CPA and a master of accountancy. I think the CPA is the most important. In terms of what employers are looking for I would first - obtain the bachelors with a major in accounting... second - obtain the CPA, this will demonstrate your accounting proficiency whether you are in public or private accounting and third (a distant third) obtain your MBA or master of accountancy...Today, in most states you need 150 hours to obtain the CPA... because of this, some universities are offering a 150 hour 5 year track that includes the master of accountancy. However, since you already have a BS degree... you will likely have your 150 hours once you complete the accounting courses. As such... the additional 30 to 60 credits that it would take to get your master in accountancy would have less value to you than to those who need it to get to 150 hours. Bottom line is, employers respect the CPA, to do the accounting courses and pursue the CPA.
Good luck!
