Changing Career Path

Joseph Said:

Changing career path right before graduating. help? anyone?

We Answered:

Everyone encounter a career crisis in their 30's. When you started a job by whatever you studied in school. Yours just happen earlier. Be aware, currently the job you love might not be the job you have forever. So, you can change your career later on, you don't have to be forever in the same career. So, change it later. The good thing is you have the background to fall back on later.

Just got a lady who was a lawyer for the past ten years, and she is starting to teach elementary school this year. So, what can you say about what is going on later on in your life.

Don't get spoil by the money though, it will limit you from changing career later on, because when you have lots finanical obligations, then you are stuck to whatever job provides you the lifestyle you addict to,

Good luck in whatever you choose.

changing career path to become electrician.?

We Answered:

Stay where you are. Electricians want a job like you have.

If you want, go to school, and get an engineering degree so you stay inside most of the time and then go out to the field once in awhile to break the tedium.

As an electrician;

1. Your work will be on again off again. You will always look for a big job to get a continuous pay check. Unemployment will be your constant friend.

2. Working in field is difficult. People in the office maybe uncooperative, but people in the field have power equipment.

3. You will probably have to join a union. The strength of Unions have decreased. Look at the ability of the unions in Detroit, they are unable to keep their members working, and they are about to shut down the car manufacturers.

4. Homeowners works sound good. How many homeowners are going to call you to make a decent living. If you get on a big job you will do homeowner work on the side to help pay the expenses when you are laid off.

5. Getting paid indoors is nice when it is raining, and snowing outside. Just imagine going home because the weather is bad and only getting show up time, if you are lucky.

If you are really intrested in becoming an electrician, check with a local electrican to see if you can moonlight with him. Then go take some classes and become qualified. This way you can work after hours, and on weekends and see what it is really like without risking what you have.

Cheers and good luck.

I want to change my career path?

We Answered:

Well, it all depends on you. You should make a list of "likes" and "dislikes". Once you have that completed, focus on the "likes". In there you will find your career. As an example, I did that several years ago, after being in banking for quite awhile. I discovered that I like money (DUH) and being able to set my own goals. So, I did some research and ended up becoming an Equipment Leasing Broker. Basically, I bring people together who want to lease equipment with those that have money to lend. I gotta tell you, I am the happiest I have ever been, and I am making more money than ever. But, check your list - where ever you go in life, be sure it is something that you enjoy
