Doctors Changing Careers

Franklin Said:

Have you ever had a work day that was so bad, that you seriously though about changing careers?

We Answered:

I think we've all had those days. Everyone makes mistakes. The problem you're dealing with is that in the medical field the mistakes we make affect people's lives. You need to learn from what you've done and move on. Use this as a learning opportunity to improve the quality of care you're giving. I've been there and the thing that keeps me going is knowing that all of the good that I've done outweighs the mistakes that I've made. I'm sure you couldn't find anyone in the health care field that hasn't had a mistake that haunts them.

Ann Said:

do you know anybody who changed careers to become an MD?

We Answered:

Well, you have to have at least a bachelors degree in whatever. As long as you meet the requirements for medical school, which are about 5 or so science courses, then you should have no problem getting in and becoming a doctor. The key is the bachelors degree, you can major in whatever but you still need those science courses.
