Electrician Career Change

Gene Said:

Electrician career?

We Answered:

An Electrician goes around fixing electrical problems at a home, business, or office. They can work for the city, county, government, private company, or be self employed. You will need a good background of circuits and circuitry and be able to rewire, strip, and connect wires and circuits to fix any electrical problems. They earn anywhere from 20k to 100k per year depending on who they work for and how much work they can find.

An electrician does not need a degree as they are a vocational type of work. You can get an AA and be an electrician or just know how to do the labor.

Do not confuse an Electrical Engineer with an Electrician. An Electrical Engineer has at least a BS in Electrical Engineering and designs and programs electrical components for computers, electrical systems and so forth. They don't go around fixing electrical problems in buildings etc. They work in an office.
