How To Change Your Career Path
Steve Said:
Do you find you're always changing your mind about what career you want?We Answered:
It sounds so cliche' but the old adage is true: If you do what you love for a living, then you'll never work a day in your life. Maybe you should really assess yourself honestly and figure out what you enjoy doing. Are you an outdoors person? Do you like the arts? Do you enjoy being around people? Once you figure out what you truly enjoy, you can start to develop a career path around that. You don't have to enroll in a degree program right away. Take a few classes. Better still audit a class to determine if you might like it. If you don't, try something else. After all, this is a major life decision. It should be well thought out and reasoned.Paula Said:
are you happy in life? Talk about your education, first job, career path and whatever else!?We Answered:
wow that first answer was depressing!!!!I just graduated college as well and got a well paying job also. But I have earned every single bit of it.
I had to work 50 hours a week and go to college full time, but that is part of life, dont complain about it, every one goes through it.
Anyways I'm loving it, cause now I have more freedom.
However; I feel a little more important. My family looks at me differently, I get more respect from my dad now.
My friends think more highly of me....This is all very unusual for me, its like just because I got my degree I'm supposed to be someone different than who I was before!

How do you change your password one the Yahoo Career site?We Answered:
As far as I know, all Yahoo sites use the same password to sign in. Like Yahoo Answers & Yahoo email both work off the Yahoo email password. Isn't the Career site the same way?Minnie Said:
How did you choose your career path? Ten points to most helpful answer! Thanks a lot.?We Answered:
You will be most successful doing what you are passionate about. If you are passionate about money, then you should get into business. Get an MBA, go to a good business school and apply to work for a big corporation.I chose my path because I always wanted to make movies and TV shows. I wanted to reach and teach people.

When you were 18, what did you want your career to be? What is it now? Do you like it?We Answered:
When I was 18, I wanted to be a police officer. I was going to school for it and was set on doing that. I'm only a few credits away from getting an associates in Criminal Justice but it's no longer what I want to do. I know several people who have that degree and it's pointless to have (especially where I live). Becoming a cop is hard in a small town. Now, I work as a teacher assistant with 2 and 3-year-olds. I'm currently enrolled in school now going for Early Childhood Education. I want to get a degree so I can be a teacher and get more money. While being a teacher isn't a high-paying career, I love it. Working with toddlers isn't for everyone but it's very rewarding. Some days it's stressful but overall I love it :)
As far as pay, I make around $15k a year. I don't plan on being a teachers assistant forever though so I'll only have to deal with the crappy pay until I'm done with school (I'm 20 now).

Are you happy with your career path?We Answered:
I don't have a job yet, but I really wanna be a writer or a poet one dayRenee Said:
Okay, for a career class that I am taking this year I am asking a few questions about your career...?We Answered:
1: Financial Services Industry. Operations division.2: manager
3: Studied finance in college
4: I like the constant challenge -- we work with interesting products, smart clients, and in a fast paced environment.
5: Sometimes long hours, so I can't always see my son at nighttime.
6: My parents paid for college and encouraged me to do something that I like which would provide a good living. Otherwise, it was my choice to pursue this field.
7: I tried to balance both a bit. Money is important to buy a house, pay bills, and take an occasional vacation. But lifestyle is important as well, as I believe in spending quality time with my family. My job does pay a decent wage and, while hours are occasionally long, it's not as bad as other parts of the industry.
8: Most people get a college degree of some sort, and then the rest of the training is on the job.
9: Absolutely. I have 11 yrs experience now, and still love it.
10: College
11: As long as you have the aptitude to understand the mechanics of financial products, it's not too hard.
12: Not really. I knew that I wanted to do something in business, so I looked for a school that had a good program.
13: Challenge, opportunity, good pay, some travel, some work-life balance
14: I'm happy with my career path. I often wonder if I would have enjoyed being a small business owner, but I might try that in the future.
15: Many people don't really understand what I do, which is kind of interesting. BUt it's a good job at a good company, so I believe people respect that.
16: I stumbled into this job during my last year in college, and have been very fortunate in that I enjoy it.
17: Related to #16, I found this job while still in school. Prior to that, I knew that I wanted some sort of financial services or consulting job, but I was very open to the details of the position.
Hope that helps!
